Recreation & Nature

1.Eagle Square

Dataran Lang, aka the Eagle Square, is one of the most prominent places to see in Langkawi. Located in Kuah Town and next to the Kuah jetty, Eagle Square is the place that reflects origin of Langakawi’s name. Displayed atop an elevated platform in Kuah, it is a 12 meter-tall sculpture of an eagle with its wings wide open. Langkawai’s name has been derived from reddish brown eagle, because in old Malay language ‘Helang’ means Eagle and ‘Kawi’ stands for reddish brown. So this manmade statue of the eagle placed on a huge star shaped concrete platform has been created to reflect this background of the island where an eagle is the symbol of Langkawi.

What makes it more important is that it is a mere five minutes walk from other prominent Langkawi attractions, such as Kuah Jetty & Taman Lagenda, and numerous restaurants. People come here to relax and watch the ferries ply across the harbour in the evening. It is said to be the ideal place for those postcard-perfect holiday photos courtesy its fancy miniature fountains, terraces and bridges.

2.Langkawi Sky Bridge

The Langkawi Sky Bridge is a 125-metre-long curved pedestrian bridge that offers an exhilarating (and sometimes terrifying) view of the verdant Gunung Mat Cincang, the Telaja Tujuh waterfalls, and several islets surrounding Langkawi.

Set 700 metres above sea level, it’s only accessible via the final station of the Langkawi Cable Car. This sturdy bridge can accommodate up to 250 people at a time. It’s fitted with double steel railings, an enclosed wire mesh, and 2 triangular platforms where you can relax and enjoy the cool breeze.

3.Langkawi Cable Car

The Langkawi Cable Car takes you on a 15-minute ride to the top of Gunung Machinchang. Along the way, you can enjoy breathtaking views of Langkawi’s lush rainforests, islets, and waterfalls. The journey starts at the Oriental Village, where you’ll pass several stops fitted with open-air view decks.

After reaching the 708 metre-tall peak, you can enjoy the cool breeze, grab a quick bite, browse through many souvenir stalls. Remember to take lots of photos from the observatory deck. As it gets a little chilly towards the top, we advise bringing a sweater along for the ride.

4.Langkawi Legenda Park

Legenda Park is a beautiful folklore-themed park beside Langkawi’s Kuah Jetty. You can explore on foot or hire a buggy to get around the premises. The open-air attraction faces the Kuah waterfront, hosting around 17 sculptures with signboards in English depicting Langkawi legends.

You can see colourful figures of heroic giants, mythical birds, evil ogres, and beautiful princesses. Entrance to this well-maintained park is also very affordable compared to other Langkawi attractions, making it a popular spot for families.

5.Telaga Tujuh Waterfall

Situated about 40 minutes away from Kuah Town, Telaga Tujuh Waterfall is billed as Lankawi island’s most wonderful natural attraction. Set on Lankawi’s western headlands, its name means Seven Wells Waterfall, referring to a series of seven connected natural pools fed by seven separate waterfalls in Mt. Mat Cincang. Locals say that the Telaga Tujuh Waterfall is home to fairies, but really it is probably the gorgeous flora in the area that makes the place seem magical. It is great place for tourists to enjoy the cool air and relax in nature, also a great place for photo taking!

6.Langkawi Wildlife Park

Located in Kilim area and only 10 minutes drive from Kuah Town, the Langkawi Wildlife Park covers an area of 5.5 acres of land area and has created an ambience of a tropical rainforest. There are over 150 different species of animals and birds from different parts of the world including South East Asia, Africa and Australia to name a few. It is a fully covered wildlife park and the first such park in Asia. Tourists are also able to close interactions with the birds and animals here
