Recreation & Nature
1.Eagle Square
Dataran Lang, aka the Eagle Square, is one of the most prominent places to see in Langkawi. Located in Kuah Town and next to the Kuah jetty, Eagle Square is the place that reflects origin of Langakawi’s name. Displayed atop an elevated platform in Kuah, it is a 12 meter-tall sculpture of an eagle with its wings wide open. Langkawai’s name has been derived from reddish brown eagle, because in old Malay language ‘Helang’ means Eagle and ‘Kawi’ stands for reddish brown. So this manmade statue of the eagle placed on a huge star shaped concrete platform has been created to reflect this background of the island where an eagle is the symbol of Langkawi.
What makes it more important is that it is a mere five minutes walk from other prominent Langkawi attractions, such as Kuah Jetty & Taman Lagenda, and numerous restaurants. People come here to relax and watch the ferries ply across the harbour in the evening. It is said to be the ideal place for those postcard-perfect holiday photos courtesy its fancy miniature fountains, terraces and bridges.

After reaching the 708 metre-tall peak, you can enjoy the cool breeze, grab a quick bite, browse through many souvenir stalls. Remember to take lots of photos from the observatory deck. As it gets a little chilly towards the top, we advise bringing a sweater along for the ride.

Situated about 40 minutes away from Kuah Town, Telaga Tujuh Waterfall is billed as Lankawi island’s most wonderful natural attraction. Set on Lankawi’s western headlands, its name means Seven Wells Waterfall, referring to a series of seven connected natural pools fed by seven separate waterfalls in Mt. Mat Cincang. Locals say that the Telaga Tujuh Waterfall is home to fairies, but really it is probably the gorgeous flora in the area that makes the place seem magical.
